EZPHOTOS / PRIVACY
EZPhotos Privacy Policy
How EZPhotos processes photos on your device, why it needs permissions, and how you can manage your information.
EZPhotos (“the app”) is provided by Shanghai Xixing Guangyao Technology Co., Ltd. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we access, process, and store information, and how you can manage it.
For privacy questions, email developer@ezpace.cn.
This policy covers EZPhotos and its companion widgets. Apple and other services you choose to use have their own privacy policies. Any website analytics, cookies, or similar processing are covered separately by the website, outside the scope of this app policy.
1. How we handle your information
- You can browse and organize photos without creating an account with us. The App Store handles purchases and restores access to Pro features.
- Smart classification, text recognition, similar and duplicate detection, quality analysis, compression, and conversion run on your device. The app does not upload your media or analysis results to our servers or send them to cloud AI services for analysis or model training.
- The app stores the analysis indexes, organizing history, settings, and cache it needs on your device. Information processed on your device may still include personal information.
- The app has no third-party advertising or behavioral tracking SDKs. It does not use advertising identifiers to track you across apps, and we do not sell your personal information.
- iCloud Photos, maps, App Store purchases, and external links you open may use the internet. These situations are explained below.
2. Information we process and why
Photos, videos, and related information
After you grant photo access, the app can access photos, videos, Live Photos, and related information within the scope of that permission. This includes thumbnails, media files, library item identifiers, filenames, capture or creation dates, dimensions, duration, file size, format, album membership, favorite status, and any camera details or location already stored in the media.
The app uses this information to browse, search, classify, manage albums, group items by city, display media details, and identify similar or duplicate items. It also uses it for the compression, conversion, sharing, saving, and deletion actions you choose.
The app currently requires full photo library access to continue. If you allow access to selected photos only, deny permission, or revoke full access, you cannot continue using the app. You must allow access to all photos in iOS settings to continue.
Smart analysis and search indexes
The app can analyze image content, recognize text and barcodes, extract image features for similarity comparisons, and create category labels, quality scores, search indexes, and duplicate or similar groups on your device. Analysis may include whether people or faces are present, their poses, and image quality. This helps classify and assess photos; it is not used to identify who a person is.
Recognized text may include names, contact details, identity documents, or other private information in your photos. Recognition and indexing take place on your device, where the results are stored. We do not use this content to build advertising profiles, contact people shown in photos, or upload it to our servers.
Automated analysis helps you organize your library, but results may be inaccurate. Check items before deleting, moving, or sharing them.
Photo locations and maps
City grouping and location displays use location metadata already present in your photos or videos. The app does not currently request access to your device’s live location or continuously record your whereabouts.
When you open a map, the app uses Apple Maps to show where an item was taken. Apple or its map service partners may process the map region and related requests, including coordinates or areas associated with the photo location and information needed to deliver the online service. Displaying a map does not upload the photo itself to our servers.
Photo locations may reveal your home, workplace, or movements. You can choose not to use maps and check whether location metadata is included before sharing media.
Private albums
When you move an item into a private album, the app saves a media copy, thumbnails, and information needed to restore it in a protected local directory. This directory uses iOS file data protection and is excluded from system backups. We do not provide server backups or cloud recovery for private albums.
To access a private album, the app uses Apple’s device owner authentication, with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode as available. We receive only the authentication result, never your face or fingerprint templates or device passcode.
Moving an item into a private album does not automatically remove the original from your system photo library. The original moves to Recently Deleted only after you confirm deletion and the system allows it. Its subsequent retention and syncing depend on Photos and your iCloud settings.
Deleting the app, losing your device, or damage to the device may make private album contents unrecoverable. Before deleting the app or changing devices, use the app’s restore or export features to save anything you want to keep.
Local settings, activity records, and diagnostics
The app stores your language, appearance, preferences, network choices, reminder times, organizing progress, processed-item status, analysis progress, free feature allowances, and necessary cache on your device. These records preserve your settings, let you resume tasks, manage feature allowances, and improve performance. They are not used for advertising tracking.
The app and operating system may record task status, errors, and diagnostic logs on your device to help troubleshoot problems. The app does not automatically upload these logs to our servers. Diagnostic sharing by the operating system is governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.
Widgets
The app and its widgets exchange information through a shared app container on the same device to provide album or category shortcuts and display organizing progress. This includes album names and identifiers, category or city shortcuts, language, Pro status, and organizing counts.
This information is used by the app’s own widgets and is not shared with unrelated apps through this mechanism. Widgets may show shortcut names and progress on your Home Screen or other system screens. You can configure or remove them.
Purchases and subscriptions
When you purchase, restore a purchase, or check Pro access, Apple handles the request through the App Store and StoreKit. The app receives and verifies the transaction and entitlement information it needs on your device. This may include product identifiers, transaction status, subscription expiration dates, revocation status, and trial or offer eligibility. It uses this information to enable features, restore access, and show subscription status.
The app does not give us your card number, payment password, or Apple Account password. Apple processes payments and related records. We may receive sales, financial, or aggregate analytics reports through Apple’s developer services. These reports do not contain photos or local analysis data uploaded by the app.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any device details, screenshots, logs, or other attachments you choose to send. We use them to reply, troubleshoot, and handle privacy requests.
Please send only what is relevant to the issue. Where possible, crop or cover unrelated photos, locations, identity documents, and other sensitive details. We will not ask for your Apple Account password, payment password, or device passcode.
3. Permissions and online services
| Permission or service | Purpose | Your choices |
|---|---|---|
| Photo access | Browse, analyze, classify, and organize the photos and videos you authorize | Full access is currently required to continue; selecting limited access, denying permission, or revoking full access prevents continued use |
| Adding or changing library items | Save generated media, mark favorites, add items to albums, and carry out deletions you confirm | Controlled by system permissions; the relevant saving or editing features will not work without access |
| Face ID / system authentication | Protect private albums | Authentication is handled by the system; a device passcode or other system method may be available |
| Notifications | Send local organizing reminders at times you choose | Deny permission, turn off reminders in the app, or disable notifications in system settings |
| Internet and cellular data | Access iCloud, maps, the App Store, and similar services as needed | Manage the available app options and system settings; disabling access may prevent those services from working |
The app does not currently request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, or live location.
The app’s background network, iCloud analysis, and cellular download options control the corresponding analysis and download activities. They do not disconnect the app at the system level. Even with background online analysis turned off, viewing, editing, or exporting an iCloud item that has not been downloaded, using maps, or purchasing or restoring access may trigger requests to Apple services.
Organizing reminders are scheduled locally. They do not require sending reminder times or a remote push notification device identifier to our servers.
4. Who receives information
Apple and its services
- Photos and iCloud: System photo services read or download authorized media as needed. Changes to your system photo library may sync to other devices according to your iCloud Photos settings.
- Maps: Map requests are processed when you open a map.
- App Store: Apple handles purchases, subscriptions, restoration of purchases, and related verification.
- System authentication and notifications: Apple provides device authentication and local reminders.
Apple’s handling of information is governed by its own notices. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the privacy information for each service in your device settings.
Recipients and websites you choose
When you use the system share sheet or export features to send content to another app, person, storage location, or service, that recipient receives the selected media and any retained metadata, such as filenames, capture dates, or locations. You initiate the action, and the recipient handles the content under its own rules.
When you open a privacy policy, license notice, or other external webpage, the browser and website may process your IP address, browser details, and other information needed to serve the page. Reading license text stored within the app does not itself connect to the corresponding website.
Third-party components
The app uses Lottie for interface animations, data resources such as GeoNames and Who’s On First for local geographic processing, and Apple’s image analysis capabilities on your device. These uses do not require sending photos, recognized text, or local analysis results to the open-source projects or data providers.
Other circumstances
We do not sell or rent your personal information or use your photos or analysis results for third-party advertising. If we need a service provider to process support information you send us, we will limit its purpose and scope and require appropriate protection. If disclosure is required by law, we will disclose only what is necessary. We will provide any additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.
5. Storage, retention, and deletion
Local data
Photo indexes, recognition results, organizing records, settings, and cache are mainly stored in the app’s directory on your device. Widget data is stored in the device’s shared app container. We do not keep server copies of this local data.
Local indexes and records may remain while you use the app to support search and ongoing organizing, and are adjusted as tasks and data change. Revoking photo permission limits future library access but does not automatically erase all previously created indexes or records.
Photos manages the originals in your system library. Removing EZPhotos alone does not delete them. Copies exported elsewhere must be managed in those locations. Items marked for deletion or listed in an in-app trash view may not yet have been deleted from the system library. Check which deletion action you confirmed and whether the item is still in Photos.
Choose Delete App in iOS settings to remove the app and its local data. Offload App may retain documents and data. System backups, shared containers, and copies you exported may need separate attention. The private album directory is excluded from system backups. Whether other eligible app data is backed up depends on the system and your backup settings.
Support and request records
Information you email us is stored in the email or support systems we use. We retain it only as long as needed to resolve the issue, follow up, and meet necessary security or legal requirements. When those purposes end, we delete or anonymize information we no longer need, except for records we must keep by law. You can also ask us to delete it.
Data held by Apple and other recipients
iCloud, the App Store, system backups, and sharing services you choose each retain data under their own rules. The app cannot delete all their records on your behalf. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it separately through Apple’s subscription management settings.
International services
The app does not upload your local media or analysis indexes to our servers, whether in China or elsewhere. When you use Apple services, external websites, or recipients you choose, information may be processed outside your country or region according to their service arrangements and privacy notices. If we later arrange an international transfer of personal information, we will first meet the applicable notice, consent, and other requirements.
6. Managing your information
You can:
- Manage photo access. You can change the scope of photo access or revoke permission in iOS settings. The current version requires full photo library access; switching to selected photos only or revoking permission prevents you from continuing to use the app.
- Manage optional features. Adjust iCloud analysis, network access, and reminders in the app, and notification and network permissions in system settings.
- Manage media and private content. Use the app and Photos to view, save, restore, export, and delete items. Before deleting anything, check where the original, private copy, and exported copies are stored.
- Manage widgets. Change or remove widgets to keep album names or progress off screens where you do not want them shown.
- Manage purchases. Restore purchases, manage subscriptions, or request refunds through the App Store or system settings.
- Make a privacy request. For personal information we hold, you can ask to access, copy, correct, or delete it, withdraw consent, or request an explanation of our processing. Where applicable law provides these rights, you can also ask to restrict or object to processing, or request data portability.
There is no EZPhotos account to close because the app does not offer separate account registration. We cannot remotely read, change, delete, or recover content stored only on your device, but we can explain how to manage it locally.
Email developer@ezpace.cn. To avoid disclosing information to someone else, we may ask for enough information to verify your identity or authority to make the request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out on that basis before withdrawal.
7. Sensitive information and children
Photos, videos, recognized text, and capture locations may contain sensitive personal information. We process this content on your device only for the photo management features you choose, not to build advertising profiles or establish your real-world identity. Private album authentication does not give the app biometric templates.
The app is not designed specifically for children. Minors should use it with a guardian’s guidance. For children under 14, a guardian should read this policy, give consent, and supervise the child’s use of features that process personal information.
If a guardian believes a child has sent us personal information by email or another channel that we should not keep, please contact us at the address above. Once verified, we will handle deletion or other protection requests as required by law.
8. Security
We use system permissions, the app sandbox, local processing, and file data protection and device owner authentication for private albums to reduce unnecessary exposure of information.
No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Set a device passcode, manage access to Photos and iCloud, and check your content before sharing a device, exporting media, or deleting the app. If a security incident affects personal information, we will take the necessary steps and provide notifications as required by law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, data practices, or applicable requirements change, and will show the updated date. For material changes, such as changes to processing purposes, information categories, or recipients, we will notify you in the app or by another appropriate means. Where renewed consent is required, we will obtain it before the relevant processing begins.
